For the month of July I am instructor in the
Microbial Diversity Course at the
Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. A course tradition is re-enacting the Volta experiment, which involves mucking around in a swamp at night to dislodge methane, then lighting the methane on fire. Very fun and very dirty! Here's a picture of the students, TAs and staff post-swamp.
