I just returned from the University of Florida were I visited my Former post-doc, Mary Ellen Davey. Mary Ellen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Microbiology. Her lab studies Porphyromonas gingivalis, a strict anaerobe in the oral cavity. She is particularly interested in how this bug controls capsule synthesis, interspecies interactions and host-pathogen interactions. It was a fun trip!
